French-Toasted Ham & Cheese

  • 2 TBS orange marmalade
  • 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1/2 lb. cooked ham, sliced
  • 1 Delicious Orchards rye bread, sliced
  • 1/4 lb. Swiss cheese, sliced
  • 2 TBS (1/4 stick) butter
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg

In a cup, stir marmalade and mustard until mixed; set aside. Cut ham slices to fit on half of the bread slices; cut cheese slices to fit on top of ham, then top with a dollop of marmalade mixture and another bread slice. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. In a jelly roll pan, melt butter in oven; remove pan from oven. In a pie plate, with fork beat milk and egg until mixed. Dip sandwiches, one at a time, into the egg mixture to coat all sides. Place sandwiches, in one layer, in the jelly roll pan. Bake until sandwiches are golden brown on both sides, about 20 minutes, turing once. Cut each sandwich in half. Serve hot.
